I have a pretty pretty Sony Cybershot and new shoeesssss!! Here is a moderately weird self portrait in which I have some form of leaf product in my hair. I’ve had 2 weeks off work but barely been home. I’ve also been trying to kill a horrendous coldsore for the past week. I’m soooo sexy. In other news, pleeeease check out my fashion blog.

i know i’ve been really, really bad at blogging lately- i’m sorry! just insanely busy and my camera is still broken. i’ve managed to lose around 4-5 kilos since jamie left, which is the single perk.  he also set up his own photography website, go look!

i have also decided that i’m going to do nanowrimo. someone else do it with me!

ALSO, i am obsessed with finding out what the background music is on this site- FRAVSHOP.COM. they not only have GREAT clothing, I have had the background music on loop for at least an hour.

This very attractive photo was taken by Geoff and features not only the man of my dreams, but also a man I would like to stress my appreciation and love for, Mark. Mark is one of my favourite people, and I am very, very glad he is here for me to have supernatural marathons with.

Tired.

I really like my job, but I have far too much responsibility for someone who has just come out of uni.

My camera is still broken, which is hella frustrating and is affecting my ability to blog due to lack of photos.

I am now a redhead. That’s right. Full on ranga.

Today I got a pay rise and back pay. And what will I spend it on? That’s right, dentistry.

Merhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Update on knitting: 1/8 of scarf completed. I’m rockin’ it.

Pigeons!!!!

Hello. My name is Ash. I am 23 years old. I am a paediatric physiotherapist.  I like sweet potato. Today a man came and put new light bulbs in my house and they hurt my eyes. The hairdresser put a steam globe over my head and it made my eyelashes stick together. I have a new old hat and some sweet shoulderpads. Thank you for reading.

ADDITION: can someone bring me some lollies plz.

EXTRA ADDITION: it’s ok, I went and got some from the petrol station.

Sex pistols

Posted in culture, fashion, life, love, photography, vintage, writing by tarantulatrash on June 9, 2010

This is a photo of my mum and dad back before I existed. If you look carefully you can see that it says “Sex Pistols” on the wall behind them. This will always be my favourite photo. It sits in a frame in my lounge room.

6 days until I drive to pick up Jamie from the airport. Still not feeling real. He has some new photos up he took with his Diana Mini, you should go look!

I bought a pair of denim shorts off ebay, and they arrived with a free “versace” white vintage singlet. It was odd, but no complaints 🙂

One New Years Eve.

This is one of my favourite photos, taken of Daniel and Bridie- two very excellent people, one new years’ eve at my old place in Kensington.

I’m off work sick today, waiting for the man from Jim’s Mowing to come around and hack my nature strip. My eyes won’t stop watering, my body aches and I’m freezing even though I have a woolen jacket on and the heater blaring. Blergh.

I shall wear the shit out of you.

(This is not me, it is the model in the picture. They have a blog, too)

Today will be excellent, we’re going to Savers (thrift superstore), Vegie Bar on Brunswick st for lunch, and lots of photo-ing armed with Box Brownies, a Smena and the good old LC-A+. I love Melbourne.

EDIT: APPARENTLY THEIR BLOG NO LONGER EXISTS.

This needs no explanation.

My first snow.

Posted in art, culture, fashion, life, lomo, lomography, photography, Uncategorized by tarantulatrash on May 15, 2010

This is my first experience of falling snow. I was walking up Royal Mile in Edinburgh, Scotland. Behind me is Edinburgh Castle. I had to buy an emergency hat, it snowed that much. Don’t I look ridiculously attractive.

If anyone was wondering, that scarf is from River Island and is incredible.

How splendidly peculiar.

I now have a deviantART account.
I will be putting images on said account, some of which will be available to buy as prints. Prints on deviantART are wickedly cheap, so I suggest you go and buy some of mine. There is very little on there at the moment, but over the next couple of weeks there will be.

Also, if you have a deviantART account, be my friend!!!

Power shoulders and velvet.

Posted in culture, fashion, indie, photography, street fashion, Uncategorized, vintage by tarantulatrash on April 30, 2010

Whilst my boyfriend blogs about art, politics and philosophy, I blog about shoulder embellishments and fake velvet and pull weird faces. Ironically, my webcam makes the embellishments and velvet near invisible, just leaving the ridiculous faces. Woe.

$4 embellished bolero from op shop, velvet Lisa Ho dress $40 ebay, velvetine dress $20 H&M, Jacket $7 from op shop (with velvet lapels you can’t see in the shitty webcam argh!)

Today is Daniel’s birthday. Daniel is one of my best friends. I ruv.

LEINAD. HAPPY DAY OF BIRTH.

Go visit his blog, I enjoy it.

In other news, I almost passed out today at a dance class. Full on, black-in-front-of-the-eyes semi pass out. I think today I may have eaten too many plums, and not enough bread. Or something. Isn’t that how it goes?

I got my Diana Mini in the mail. I’m hoping Ballarat decides to stop being a bitch so I can go out and take photos of it on the weekend. I’m not sure I’m going to survive this winter.

Most of my outfits cost under $50.

Posted in culture, fashion, indie, street fashion, Uncategorized, vintage by tarantulatrash on March 26, 2010

I went through my wardrobe tonight, and realised that at least half of the contents cost less than $5. You’d think that would make me look like a hobo, but some of my favourite items are the cheapest. For example:

This entire outfit cost me $14.

(Blazer $4, Singlet $2, Tights $8)

This one, $16.

(Skirt worn as cape $1, Pashmina $5, Tights $8, Singlet $2)

And this one, $22.

(Singlet $2, Tights $8, Denim cutoffs $7, Black Cardigan with embellished shoulders (not that you can see those) $5)

ASH CAN HAS BARGAINS. I don’t think the excuse “i can’t afford good clothes” is valid. Please excuse the weird looks on my face, I’m not good at smiling 🙂

Luke and Liam, circa New Years 2009? Lomo LC-A+. One of my favourites. Liam looks so utterly content.

It’s Friday, thank god, and I’m about to have a massive weekend

– Sister’s 21st dinner tonight in Bendigo (Happy birthday Paigie)

-Go to see Geoff and Kerry in Melbourne

-Work tomorrow morning at the Children’s Hospital

-Help Gianna drive things around in the afternoon

-? Gig on Saturday night

-Drive back to Ballarat Sunday

-Aquatic rescue course Sunday afternoon

So amongst all that, I MAY not have time to blog. We’ll see how it goes.

Off to work. blerghhhhhh

There are no longer dancers.

“ There are no longer ‘dancers.’ the possessed.
The cleavage of men into actor and spectators
is the central fact of our time.
We are obsessed with heroes who live for us
and whom we punish…
We are content in the ‘given’ in sensation’s quest.
We have been metamorphosised from a
mad body dancing on hillsides to
a pair of eyes staring in the dark. ”

Obsession du jour

Posted in art, culture, fashion, photography, street fashion, vintage by tarantulatrash on March 18, 2010

There are countless fashion blogs around, but not many of them can keep my attention and make me continue to read them. In my opinion, a good blogger needs to share a little about them, and reveal a bit of their personality through their posts. One blog in particular has kept my interest for over a year. You should go look! Click the title and see Tamara’s blog at

She also has an ebay store, but if you’re a reader of her blog you can sometimes grab items before they go into the store. I just like looking at her photos!

Icecream and a lion cub’s shirt.

Posted in culture, fashion, indie, life, photography, Uncategorized by tarantulatrash on March 14, 2010

It’s Sunday afternoon, and my house is still a dump. However, that’s because I decided that instead of cleaning it, I would go and have an awesome weekend. I went down to Geelong on Saturday night with my best mate Bridie and got a little trashed at the Nash. An excellent band played called Revolver and Sun, I recommend checking them out. Today, a tad hungover and starving, we drove to Barwon Heads for food, icecream, beach and “The Nest”. Bridie stole a shirt off a particular lion cub, and decided it should go on an adventure.

The drive (shamefully, we listened to “Asha’s punk room mix” which was created in our emo/hardcore stage of 2006.) Oh, MCR. How we loved thee.

We swung by IGA (Independent Grocers of Australia). A photo seemed appropriate.

The shirt, in all its glory.

We then went to a cafe for food. At this stage I may have died if I didn’t consume something.

If you’re wondering why my glasses are wonky, it’s because one of my ears is at least 1cm lower than the other. No joke. I’m a freak.

This shit helps hangovers.

You’d do us.

The shirt got into the food.

Cookies and cream

Honeycomb

And fish!

At this point, Bridie decided to take the shirt off

And chill with it in the tree.

I was then in the tree for a while,

before Bridie kicked me out and got back in.

The water looks like sewage. This is a river, not the actual beach. My jeans got saturated. Don’t go to the beach in jeans.

We then went to The Nest, where I found myself some fellow Jim Morrison enthusiasts and witnessed homebrewing at it’s finest.

It was hot.

Bridie was branded.

GOOD WEEKEND.

Cheap Monday

Posted in art, culture, fashion, indie, lomo, lomography, photography, street fashion, venting, vintage by tarantulatrash on March 13, 2010

Cheap Monday. Lomo Smena Symbol. Dressing room courtesy of American Apparel, Jeans courtesy of Cheap Monday and  Daniel. He may have even taken this photo, I can’t really remember. So possible credit where credit is possibly due.

It’s a gorgeous day, and I’m ignoring the fact that my house is a dump and I’m going to the Ballarat Mill Markets to spend money on vintage clothing that I shouldn’t really be spending. I’ll clean the house tonight.

I’ve become obsessed with Etsy. Will post some favourite stores up later, but the sun is so shiny I can’t possibly stay inside. Today is going to be better than yesterday, which resulted in me coming to a few realisations about myself and ended in tears.

I’m really excited that after only a week, people are reading my blog! Thanks guys!

Is it possible to be in love with a pair of boots?

Posted in culture, fashion, indie, street fashion, vintage by tarantulatrash on March 11, 2010

I will not take these boots off this autumn/winter

Except to put these ones on

And my beloved coat, that I’m not sure Ballarat is quite ready for-

Of course, I probably couldn’t pull off the whole topless-under-the-faux-fur thing quite yet.

Chronicles of Never

Posted in culture, fashion, indie, street fashion by tarantulatrash on March 7, 2010

I have fallen in love with Chronicles of Never jewellery. I’m not sure at the moment, whether I can justify the cost of buying myself any, considering I haven’t saved a cent towards going back over to Europe in December. I can still look and dream though-

The rings remind me of Bowie’s Labyrinth. I MUST have one.
